The Use of Autogenous Teeth for Alveolar Ridge Preservation: A Literature Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Alveolar ridge resorption is a natural consequence of teeth extraction, with unpleasant aesthetic and functional consequences that might compromise future oral rehabilitation. To minimize the biological alveolar resorption, several surgical procedures have been designed, so-called preservation (ARP) techniques. One important characteristic concomitant use biomaterial in ARP. In past decade, autogenous as bone graft material post-extraction sockets proposed very interesting outcomes, yet different protocols preparation. Here we summarize available evidence on ARP, its directions.

Ridge Preservation for Implant Therapy: a Review of the Literature

Healing of the extraction socket after tooth removal involves retention of the blood clot followed by a sequence of events that lead to changes in the alveolar process in a three dimensional fashion. This normal healing event results in a minimal loss of vertical height (around 1 mm), but a substantial loss of width in the buccal-lingual plane (4-6 mm). During the first three months following e...

A review on alveolar ridge preservation following tooth extraction.

CONTEXT The question that clinicians face is whether the use of bone replacement grafts and/or barrier membranes enhance their ability to provide for the future placement of a dental implant or to maximize ridge dimensions following the extraction of a tooth versus no additional treatments. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION The evidence was obtained by search of Entrez PubMed and manual search of The Inte...

Intervention for replacing missing teeth: Alveolar ridge preservation techniques for dental implant site development - evidence summary of Cochrane review

The Cochrane reviews have transparent reporting of the methodology to clarify the reader the methods used for writing the review; hence, each review becomes a large volume of scientific literature. This evidence summary of the Cochrane review published in 2015 for the question, what are the clinical effects (preservation of both width and height of bone, esthetic outcomes, complications, and fa...

Socket preservation with medical grade calcium sulfate hemihydrate: a radiographic study evaluating the dimensional changes of the alveolar ridge

Background and Aim: Medical grade calcium sulfate hemihydrate (MGCSH) is used as a bone graft material for socket preservation. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in bone width and height after tooth extraction and socket preservation with MGCSH using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: This study evaluated 17 systemically healthy patients over a 1-year period. Th...
